Russian fruit kompot is a beverage, very traditional and common in every Russian family. It can be very practical dish if we use peels from apple and pears, for example. The beverage can serve hot or cold depends on the season. How to make Russian compote? Fresh or dry fruits prepare with sugar syrup or honey and add lemon juice. I add a little alcohol but don’t worry, it evaporates in boiling water and gives great flavor. It really makes difference in this simple recipe.
5 cup of water
1 cup of sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
3 tablespoons sweet wine
1 pound of strawberries
Add sugar to hot water and bring to boil.
2. Add wine to boiling water and boil for 3-5 min on slow heat.
3. Turn off heat and add lemon juice.
4. Cool the syrup. Add the syrup to strawberries. This way we save most vitamins from the berries.
