We always serving watermelon with ice outside, but we can serve ice inside also. With this method, watermelon does not touch an ice, but in the same time very close to it. When ice melts, it not will be floating in the water. As a result, cool watermelon holds cool temperature longer and especially in summer time outside. The watermelon bowl mush to be frozen too.
We can cut watermelon on cubs or make for guests more interesting shape – balls.
To make balls from melon, I use a melon baller. To make larger balls from watermelon I used smaller ice cream scoop.
*Yellow inserts in petals is a lemon.
Tip from Gala’s Kitchen.
If you are going to shop for a baller, choose with sharper edges and very solid construction.
1. Cut into two halves watermelon. Freeze the watermelon bowl. Remove inside of a watermelon. If you would like, make edges like a flower. I also cut petals and it brings more volume to our flower and more interesting look. Place ice on the bottom.
2. Cut top of other half and cover ice inside watermelon as a lid. It fits perfect in most cases.
