How To Make Fun Fish Cocktail Or Mocktail Garnish From Orange Zest

In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to make an eye-catching fish-shaped tropical cocktail garnish using orange zest.

We need

Orange

Pairing knife

Vegetable peeler knife (Optional)

We can use instead of orange peel lemon or lime peel.

Technique

  1. Peel the zest. The easiest way to make a thin cut is with a vegetable peeler. However, you can use a pairing knife instead.

2. Cut out the fish shape from the orange peel.

3. Make a V-shaped cut as I show in the photo.

We can use it as a garnish as is. By using a V-shaped cut, we attach the fish to the glass. However, we can also try to add more visual interest to the fish design, and it will be just a few cuts.

4. Make a few cuts on one side of the fish, spacing them about 1/4 inch apart. It should be wide enough to cut in the middle from the other side.

5. Turn the fish and make cuts on the other side as I show in the photo.

Fish is a fun orange peel garnish for tropical cocktails, mocktails, and other beverages!

We can place the fish on the rim of a glass or on top of the ice inside a glass.

How To Attach Fish Cocktail Garnish From Lime Zest

Here’s another creative way to attach a decorative fish to a glass rim. Cut as shown in the photo, then clip the fish to the edge of the glass. This way, a fish will be attached more securely than the small V shape I showed on the orange fish technique.
