How to Prevent Orange Peel Cups from Leaking
Through practicing this food styling technique, I quickly learned that DIY orange cups need a moisture barrier to prevent leaking juice on the main platter. If you like to prep party fruit platters in advance, this step is essential. Over time, cut fruit naturally releases juices, and unsealed citrus peels are going to leak. To keep your food display looking clean, crisp, and appetizing, you just need a simple moisture barrier inside or around the cup.
Here are three easy ways to prevent orange skin cups from leaking juice onto your fruit platter:
- Line the Orange Cup with Plastic Wrap. (My Favorite)
-
Place Orange Cups Into Festive Cupcake Liners.
- Place Orange Cups Into Dessert Dishes.
1. How to Line an Orange Cup with Plastic Wrap

My favorite way to prevent is to line the orange cup with plastic wrap. This locks the juice inside perfectly without changing the look of your orange cups. It is easy and an inexpensive solution.
Technique:
- Place the ring of orange skin without the bottom on a small square of plastic wrap. Fold the plastic wrap corners inside the orange skin ring as I show in the photo.

2. Place the cut-off orange round piece inside the orange skin. It holds plastic inside the orange cup.

The cup is protected and will not leak fruit juice on the fruit platter.

2. Use Festive Cupcake Liners to Prevent Leaking Juice

Placing each orange cup into a silicone or paper cupcake liner is a quick, colorful way to catch drips.
3. Use Dessert Dishes to Prevent Leaking Juice

Placing each orange cup into an individual dessert dish is a clever way to catch any extra juices while creating a beautiful, mess-free presentation for your guests.
