Technique
- Cut off the dark green skin by not perfect stripes, it will be the internode of our bamboo from the cucumber. Try to leave wide enough dark green stripes, so when we make narrow light stripe it will be noticeable.
2. I make a narrow stripe in the middle of each dark green skin area and it is our bamboo node.
3. To make bamboo more realistic we need leaves. I cut out leaves from the dark skin cutoffs.
4. I make small cuts in my bamboo to place leaves.
For an even more realistic look, you can hollow out the inside of the cucumber “bamboo” using a corer—just be sure the tool is the right size! Cucumber bamboo makes a fantastic addition to any sushi platter, adding both beauty and a refreshing flavor.
