2 Useful Tips How To Serve Black Olives Shiny At A Party And DIY Olive Serving Fork

Check out 2 useful and practical tips on how to serve black olives at a party and how to make a handmade tool to pick olives out of a jar with a narrow mouth without damaging the olive.

1. How to Serve Black Olives From A Can at a Party Shiny?

Shiny Black Olives

How to serve black olives at a party to keep them shiny? I learned this technique from the chef when I was working at a restaurant a long time ago. We often time served black olives along with appetizers on banquets. We decorated them with lemon or added them to a charcuterie cheese board. Gourmet black olives are not only delicious to add to any party table but they are great decorative food because bring contrast to the plate. However, they have a little problem with serving, olives became very fast dull on the surface, and not attractive after a short period of time. Here is a simple and useful tip if you serve black olives!

So what to do to keep black olives shiny?

The solution is very simple! Just coat it with a tasteless coat of vegetable oil for an impressive presentation. It does not affect the taste of olives and at the same time, it looks like we took olives just from a jar to serve to guests.

2. How Easy To Make Handmade Olive Picker From A Jar Tool With Drain?

The perfect DIY olives serving spoon (fork) for picking olives one by one without damage from a jar is made from a fork. For example, we need to take out an olive from a narrow-mouth jar to garnish the martini cocktail but don’t have on hand any tool. It happens to me because we are in house remodeling and some kitchen tools are in boxes. The small spoon doesn’t have a drain and works not great for this purpose. Of course, we can find much better olive tools ( I like mini tongs) on the market but if you don’t have one on hand check out this idea! I took from my husband’s garage needle pliers and bent the tips of my old fork. If you don’t have an old fork at home, check out local Goodville. So easy!

*We can also make more than one tool for different sizes of olives, macchiato cherries, pickled onions, and much more.

Another option to make a handmade tool with a drain for olives is to use a spoon. It takes longer but works well too. Use a spoon, best with a longer handle and made out of a softer metal. Make holes with a large nail and hammer. Then bend the spoon.
