7 Fun An Easy Margarita Cocktail Garnish Techniques
The most common margarita garnishes are wedge or slice of lime and salt on the rim for classic margaritas. It is what I ordered at Mexican restaurants and enjoy so much because it is one of my favorite cocktail mixes. Can we garnish the margarita with other fruits? I researched online and learned margarita cocktail has so many versions. Some non-common margarita garnishes example avocado and strawberry. I am going to share with you a few ideas about how we can garnish margaritas with different fruits. Some garnishes work well for gimlets, whisky sours, and daiquiris as well. 1. Lime Wheel Margarita Cocktail Garnish
The lime wheel is one of the best margarita garnishes. Easy, impressive, and no time to make! Just a little change to the lime wheel and instead of a common slice of lime we can garnish the margarita glass with the design.
Technique
- Make slices around on lime as I show in the photo.
2. One slice starts at the end of the other.
3. Then push each slice towards the middle of the lime slice (petals) and the design is almost is ready.
4. Make a slice and attach to the glass with a margarita or other cocktail.

2. Mango from Butterfly Margarita Cocktail Garnish
Mango butterfly is a good margarita garnish for a summer party! Easy to make and very impressive on a glass. The butterfly from a mango a great garnish for other fruity drinks as well. We can use the technique from other fruits, for example from peach for a peach margarita, from watermelon for watermelon margarita and much more. The technique needs practice (I learned this way) but when I made a few butterflies, I can make this design from any fruit or vegetable.

Technique
- Cut out a symmetrical wedge from a side of mango.
2. The wedge needs to be not smaller than 1-inch wide.
3. Cut a piece from the top of the mango wedge. It will be an antenna for the butterfly.
4. Cut off the bottom.
5. Make V-shaped cut off. The shape is mango butterfly wings shape.
6. Cut into half on the bottom.
7. Turn around and cut into half the wedge on the bottom but leave on the middle small piece of mango skin. The skin will hold the butterfly together.
8. Open up and here is our butterfly. I added a few simple designs on the wings by pressing the tip of a knife.

3. Spiral Strawberry Margarita Cocktail Garnish
To make the strawberry margarita garnish in a spiral shape is simple, we need a skewer and knife. The strawberry spiral is a fun garnish and looks cute to decorate a glass of margarita or other drinks. Very impressive on a glass garnish but needs a little practice to make it.
Technique
- Cut off the steam from the top of the strawberry. Place the skewer on the middle of the strawberry.
2. Start cutting from the wide side of the strawberry by rotating strawberry. The skewer doesn’t let us cut the strawberry though.
Try don’t make the spiral too long because strawberry is very fragile.
Remove from skewer strawberry spiral and garnish as you wish.

4. Creative Margarita Cocktail Garnish From Avocado
I didn’t try avocado margarita yet but I already have an easy garnish idea for an avocado margarita! I love avocado and eat it almost every day. I was looking at avocado one day and thought I will be not able to come out with an idea for this page. Checked Google for inspirations and not much there at all. The difficulty is avocado so soft and the design needs to be super simple. Of course, we can’t able to use very mushy fruit but it works when avocado good to eat because of the garnish simplicity. If we are able to attach a wedge of avocado to glass we can able to make this design.
I thought it will be a rooster, remember I am originally from Russia and this bird is very popular there for decor. I am sure roosters popular in Mexico too. So at first, it was a rooster! When I show my avocado bird decor to my husband, he said it is not a rooster, it is a parrot Cockatoo looks by his vision. Oh, I agree now!

- The top a bottom hear we can cut with a knife. But I used the tool from my garnish tools set and it is the reason why the feathers are perfectly even. However, we can use a pairing knife as well.
- Make eyes with the tip of a knife.
- The beak with a small triangle from an avocado skin.
5. Kiwi Margarita Cocktail Garnish
So fun for fruit margarita garnish idea from kiwi and strawberry. The kiwi cactus is a perfect addition on a glass of margarita! Of course, takes a time to make kiwi cactus than just slice berries but the cactus is so cute and fun to make garnishes for 1 or 2 drinks.
To make kiwi garnish, I peel the kiwi and cut off the bottom. On the top I make small oval to place the flower. Cut on the bottom of kiwi for easy placing on the margarita glass. The needles for my kiwi cactus I made from chocolate cake sprinkles. The flower just the small ribbon made from strawberry and roll in shape of a simple flower.
I have also another variation to make kiwi cactus, much easier and also fun look.

6. The Sun Out Of The Lime Slice Garnish
To make the sun out of lime garnish I used 2 slices of lime. So cute and easy garnish idea! It is always great with lime but not every time with lemon or orange because lime skin is more flexible than other citrus fruits I tried.
7. Margarita Cocktail Feather Peach Garnish
This garnish from peach is so impressive on glass and easy to make, I can call this a feather from peach. Peach garnish needs to be made just before serving because peach is darkening fast. So attractive garnish idea for peach margarita cocktail.
